Fireplace opened up for repair with the burner exposed Repair Fireplace Repair

Any fireplace, any failure — diagnosed first, then fixed with the right parts. If it lights sometimes, clicks without lighting, or quits mid-evening, we trace the fault to the part — not the guess.

Local conditions

Thrall fireplaces have Thrall problems

A fireplace in Thrall is not fighting a long winter — it is fighting long hot summers sitting unused, dust and insects in the burner, storm debris, and the occasional hard freeze. This is what we find here, and what we check on every visit.

Idle all summer

A gas fireplace in Thrall may not run for eight months, and sitting idle is hard on it. Dust settles deep in the pilot orifice, ignition parts age without ever being tested, and the unit fails on the first cool night. An annual service before the season fixes the small causes early.

The rare hard freeze

Most winters here are mild, which is exactly why a hard freeze catches Thrall homes off guard. Poorly protected installs and tired valves fail when the unit is needed most, and a fireplace that has not been serviced in years rarely survives the coldest week. A fall inspection finds the weak points first.

Outdoor living is a second living room

Patios in Thrall run for much of the year, and outdoor fireplaces and fire pits are a major part of that life. Outdoor burners take sun, rain and dust directly, so igniters corrode and valves stiffen faster outdoors. We install, service and repair outdoor features as a specialty, not an afterthought.

Red dirt and construction dust

In growing areas around Thrall, red dirt and construction dust get everywhere — including inside burner compartments and pilot assemblies. Fine dust clogs orifices, coats sensors and makes flames lazy and yellow. A proper cleaning clears the burner, pilot and sensors, and restores a clean, steady flame pattern.

Questions

Asked the way Thrall asks

I found wasps or mud in my fireplace burner — is that dangerous?

Yes, do not keep trying to light it. Nest material blocks burner ports and pilot openings, which distorts the flame, delays ignition and can leave unburned gas in the firebox. We shut the unit down, clear the nesting safely, clean the ports and pilot, then test-fire it before it goes back into service.

Why does my fireplace smoke or lose its flame on windy days?

Strong wind over the roof can overpower a weak draft, especially with a missing or damaged cap, a partially blocked flue, or a short vent termination. The fix depends on the cause — clearing the flue, fitting a proper cap, or correcting the venting. We diagnose which one you have instead of selling parts at random.

Can you convert my wood fireplace to gas, or add a gas insert?

Yes. Gas inserts and log sets go into existing fireboxes and are the most common conversion in newer Thrall homes — sealed, remote-lit and far easier to live with than hauling wood. We measure your firebox, check the flue and venting, and walk through the options on a free estimate before any work starts.

We smell gas near the fireplace — what now?

Leave the fireplace off, and if the smell is strong, leave the house and call your gas utility or 911 first. Once it is safe, call us. A faint odor at startup can be a delayed ignition, but it can also be a leaking valve or connector, and that gets fixed before the fireplace is used again.

Water is staining the wall or ceiling near my chimney — is that the fireplace?

Very likely the chimney, yes. A cracked crown, softened mortar joints or failed flashing lets storm rain into limestone and brick masonry, and it shows up as staining, peeling or a musty smell indoors. We trace the entry point from the top down and repair the actual source, not just the stain.

Do you give prices over the phone?

No — and be wary of anyone who does. Every fireplace fails differently, so a phone price is a guess that changes at your door. Our estimates are free: a tech looks at the actual problem, then gives you one clear price before any work starts.
