Most North Las Vegas fireplaces fail in December, not because winter is harsh here, but because they sat idle eight or nine months first. Dust-choked burners, tired igniters and heat-aged gaskets are the usual story. We show you what failed and repair it with the right part.
The six services North Las Vegas homeowners call us for most — from a gas fireplace that will not light after months idle in the heat, to a new outdoor fire feature for the patio.
RepairFireplace Repair
Any fireplace, any failure — diagnosed first, then fixed with the right parts. In Clark County we see the pattern constantly: a unit unused since spring, then dead on the first cold night.
Our specialty — and the most common fireplace in North Las Vegas homes. Pilot that won't stay lit, dead remote, weak or lazy flame: gas systems diagnosed safely and repaired to code.
Soot, dust and that stale closed-up smell removed from the firebox, glass and burner — the deep clean that clears a desert summer of dust and grit out of a burner that sat shut for months.
Firebox, flue, venting and controls checked end to end, with a plain-language report. The right call after monsoon season — or before lighting a fireplace that is new to you.
A new gas fireplace or an outdoor fire feature, done right: sizing, venting, gas and electric runs, finishing — one crew, start to first fire. We handle the whole job — unit, venting, gas line, electric and finish work.
The annual service that keeps a North Las Vegas gas fireplace lighting first try: full clean, burner and pilot service, safety sensors tested, and a test fire before we leave. The fall appointment North Las Vegas regulars book before the first cold snap.
Need something else — a damper, a blower, a smoke problem, a bird in the flue? We cover all 27 fireplace specialties. Call (888) 257-9181 and describe it.
Local conditions
North Las Vegas fireplaces have North Las Vegas problems
A fireplace in North Las Vegas spends most of the year shut in the heat, collecting desert dust, grit and nesting pests, then gets asked to work on the coldest nights. This is what we actually find here, and what we check on every visit.
Idle eight or nine months
A gas fireplace in North Las Vegas sits unused through the long hot season, and sitting is what breaks it. Dust settles deep in the burner and pilot, seals dry out, and the first cold night in December turns a quiet problem into a no-light call. An annual service before winter prevents most of those failures.
Heat ages gaskets and electronics
Extreme heat works on a fireplace all summer, even indoors. Door gaskets dry and shrink, seals harden, and ignition boards and receivers age faster in hot homes and hotter attics. A unit that lit fine last spring can refuse in December for no visible reason. We test the electronics and seals, not just the flame.
Outdoor fire features take the beating
Patio fireplaces and fire pits are a major part of desert living in North Las Vegas, and they live outside in dust, monsoon rain and full sun. Burners pit, igniters corrode, valves stiffen and wind lifts flames off the burner. Outdoor features here need service more often than indoor units, not less, and we install and repair both.
Fogged glass, tired seals
Gas fireplace glass fogs with mineral film baked on by heat, and door gaskets baked all summer lose their seal. A leaking gasket lets exhaust and heat where they do not belong, and fogged glass hides a weak, dirty flame pattern. We strip the film properly, check the seal, and replace gaskets that have gone hard.

We only use our fireplace a few nights a year — does it still need service?+
Yes — in North Las Vegas, light use is exactly the pattern that causes failures. Eight or nine idle months let dust, grit and pests into the burner and vent, and heat ages the gaskets and electronics whether the fireplace runs or not. One service a year, booked in the fall, keeps those few cold nights from starting with a dead fireplace.
Can dust storms really damage a fireplace?+
They can. Wind-driven grit works into vent terminations, burner ports and pilot assemblies, and outdoor burners take the full blast. Grit fouls ignition, distorts the flame and wears moving parts. A cleaning after storm season clears the fuel and air path, and an inspection checks caps and vent tops that storms loosen over time.
There are wasps or scratching sounds around my fireplace or vent — what now?+
Leave the fireplace off. Wasps, spiders and pack rats nest in unused burners, vents and flue tops across the desert, and a nest can block exhaust or damage wiring. We remove the nesting material, inspect the burner, vent and wiring for damage, and fit proper screening so the space stays clear without restricting the draft the system needs.
My fireplace remote stopped working — is that a big repair?+
Usually not. Remotes fail from dead batteries, a receiver that lost its pairing after months idle, heat-aged electronics, or a worn wall switch — all quick diagnoses. If the remote and receiver test fine, the fault is in the valve or ignition, and we trace it in the same visit rather than guessing at parts.
When is the best time to book fireplace service in North Las Vegas?+
In the fall, before the first cold nights. That is when dust, grit, nests and heat-aged parts can be dealt with on a normal schedule, instead of in the December rush when every idle fireplace in Clark County fails at once. We are open every day from 8 AM to 8 PM, and estimates are always free.
Do you give prices over the phone?+
No — and be wary of anyone who does. Every fireplace fails differently, so a phone price is a guess that changes at your door. Our estimates are free: a tech looks at the actual problem, then gives you one clear price before any work starts.
